The naval anchor impression between the trunnions indicates purchase, inspection and acceptance by the US Navy. The band of raised material between the trunnions is proud of the surrounding tube surfaces by .0025 inch. This area on the original that we studied is raised .015 inch or six times as much. We manufactured this area just like the foundrymen of West Point Foundry did, by planing, (milling), chiseling, filing and abrasive finishing.
