    Overtime for the Masons

Because of this fort`s unique design, the passageways from the Parade to the casemate of the Bastions are very, very long. From the Parade you go under the Covert Way, under the Barbette, under the Parapet, past the connection with the Chemin de Ronde, past the intersection with the Carnot Wall, and finally to the casemate where the Flank Howitzers were located. In the photo Mike is standing where the Carnot Wall passageway is located. Tracy took this picture about 10 feet inside the passageway, from the Parade. It is long, really long, and therefore, more easily defended if the Bastion should fall.
